The Water Park at Kodimatha, which is very close to the Kottayam town (just 1 Km away), is an ideal place to while away your leisure time.
Operated and maintained by DTPC (District Tourism Promotion Council) of the Department of Tourism, Govt of Kerala, the park is open to public on all days.
During the flood season and when it rains heavily, boating and other water rides/activities would be suspended. You can contact the Office on 0481 2560479 to know if there is such a situation.
Speed boating, pedal boating, rowing, zorbing, banana rides are some of the standard activities at this park.
The park was inaugurated in Aug 2015. Maintenance has not been in top order, is what one would feel looking at the present condition of the park.
Built by the side of the “Kodoor” river (a river between Kottayam and Alappuzha), the place offers decent ambiance for its visitors to relax and enjoy some safe water sports.
You can stroll around with family and friends in the 300-plus-meters long walkway by the river side, or relax under the tree shade or inside one of the riverside shelters.
Tea/Coffeee, snacks and light refreshment are available at the location.
They have one big boat that can be hired by the public to tour nearby places. You must talk to them in advance if you have such plans, to ensure availability.
If you have a couple of hours to pass before your appointment or activity in town, the water park at Kodimatha is certainly one of the best choices that you have.
